Intermediate Estimator

Primary Purpose of the Role

The Intermediate Estimator will assist in the preparation of estimates for construction works in accordance with Company estimating systems and procedures, working with other members of the commercial teams to secure sufficient work by value and type, in order to meet Company objectives.

Key Accountabilities

(The key responsibilities of the role against which performance is measured)

  • •Undertake quantity take-offs, both manually and digitally, from tender documents and drawings.
  • •Produce Bills of Quantities to the appropriate Method of Measurement in either spreadsheet or Conquest Estimating Software format for Estimators and subcontract or material enquiries.
  • •Liaise with the Construction Team on the design element of design & construct tenders and providing temporary works support for tenders
  • •Liaise with Supply chain Team to provide subcontractor and material allowances within tenders
  • •Liaise with the procurement department to ensure documentation is complete before enquiries are sent out
  • •Maintain and regularly publish agreed rates and prices for labour, plant and materials
  • •Produce Cashflow Profiles for all tenders, from estimate data provided by Estimators, for review and presentation at adjudication
  • •Assist the bid submission team in the preparation of tender submissions
  • •Ensure ownership of bid submissions and issue handover documents following contract award
  • •Carry out any other duties as requested by the department head or Estimators in order to assist with securing work for the business

Key Responsibilities

  • •Delivery of sufficient work by value and type to meet the Company's objectives
  • •Developing a coherent and consistent tender submission with the use of key estimating assumptions
  • •Developing a tender win strategy alongside the business unit teams and issuing handover documents following the contract award
  • •Providing temporary works support for tenders and for the design element of design and construct tenders
 

Health & Safety Role

  • •Meet company standards by promoting the safety culture through observations, site standards and workplace safety.
  • •Set a personal example with regards to health and safety matters.
  • •Ensure Sub-contractor compliance with Ashcourt expectations.
  • •Follow company safety policy and safety rules.
  • •Report all accidents, near misses and safety concerns to a line manager

Educated to HND / Degree Level in Quantity Surveying or Equivalent

Experience in the Construction Industry in a similar Role

Knowledge of contract conditions - JCT, NEC, etc.

CSCS - Card
