Continuing on from the successful delivery of phase 1, Ashcourt construction have now handed over our shell build of phase 3 for the new Day Surgery Unit at Castle Hill Hospital.

The works included a new steel frame structure, concrete metal deck floors, doors, windows and an externally cladded façade – all under construction since September 2023. This building will house a further six brand new operating theatres, consultant rooms, basement and mezzanine plant rooms and is planned for opening October 2024.

Phase 2 shell build and externals packages are still ongoing with our construction, demolition 
(groundworks), aggregates and concrete divisions all working seamlessly to optimise the construction deliverables. This phase is currently on programme for a planned handover end of September 2024.

This complete centre will provide additional theatre capacity for patients who need a planned, not urgent or acute, procedure. It will also include pre-assessment facilities ensuring a seamless transition for patients requiring day case surgery, reducing waiting times and improving overall patient experience from booking to recovery.
