Our sales team spent some time with our concrete technical team to have a more detailed understanding of slump testing in concrete. The training covered the purpose of slump testing, equipment used and the test procedure with the reps carrying out the test themselves. The purpose is to measure the consistency of fresh concrete, check the uniformity from batch to batch and ensure the concrete is at the right workability for the intended use. In construction, “workability” refers to how easily concrete can be handled, poured, and finished without segregation or excessive bleeding. The slump test gives an empirical value, known as the “slump,” which correlates with the water-cement ratio, aggregate size, and admixtures used in a mix.
