Primary Purpose of the Role

The logistics apprentice is responsible for assisting in ensuring deliveries are carried out in a timely manner to the correct locations provided. They will develop as a key point of contact for customers and employees.

 

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Liaising with customers and suppliers, checking customer demands are met for the following day/week/month, also dealing with occasional customer/general public complaints to a satisfactory conclusion.
  • Taking calls and dealing with quotes for sales of aggregates and transport enquires. Where possible using an upselling approach to ensure the customer is aware of other services the group has to offer.
  • Ensuring loads are trafficked to ensure maximum profitability, whilst ensuring the company offers a reliable and cost-effective solution to the customer.
  • Dealing with drivers and issuing loads.
  • Producing daily running haulage sheets for the following day.
  • Following traffic reports and adapting routes if necessary.
  • Completing delivery paperwork.
  • Identifying problems and implementing solutions using own skills and initiative.
  • Building long term sustainable relationships with key clients.

 

 

 

Health & Safety Role

 

  • Support in accidents, incident and near miss investigations by providing statements and evidence where required.
  • Follow and adhere to risk assessment controls, safe systems of work and PPE requirements.
  • • Take care of own health and safety and others that may be affected by their actions.

 

 

 

Emergency preparedness and response

 

  • Periodically follow emergency procedures were practicable.

 

 

 

 

 

Qualifications/Experience

Full Driving Licence 


HGV2 – Class 2 (C) or interest in working towards 


Experience building long term sustainable relationships  

 

Experience in managing and prioritising workloads to achieve deadlines and schedules  

 

GCSE Math and English grade C/4 or above
