Welcoming the arrival of this immense machine, our Quarry Manager Damian Towse put it to the test at our Burnby Chalk Quarry. With an impressive specification the EC550E excavator features a range of new and improved capabilities in line with a 60-tonne machine.

Over the years, we have become a loyal customer of SMT GB as we continue to expand our fleet with new plant equipment as the market demand increases so we were privileged to be the first customer to purchase this 55t machine.

Finally hitting the quarry, the excavator was put into action by our Quarry Manager with positive feedback all round. The main factors were the increased productivity of the machine due to the bucket size that could tear out much larger volumes of chalk ready to be processed by our screener.
