The Day Surgery Unit progress at Castle Hill Hospital

The Ashcourt Group commenced works on the new Day Surgery Unit at Castle Hill Hospital in Cottingham in December 2021.

The project is split into two areas, a Day Surgery Unit and a waste compound to the rear of the Day Surgery Unit. The waste compound foundations, service ducts and drainage are now complete, and the steel frame has been erected, the perimeter fence is still ongoing.

Progress on the Day Surgery Unit itself is also well underway with the site now stripped and works to re-route all mains gas, electric, water and data that currently feeds the essential hospital buildings, well underway.

Originally Castle Hill Hospital was called Hull Sanitorium which was designed by Joseph Hirst. This was built on the site of Cottingham Castle which was a large castellated mansion. The City Hospital moved from it’s original location on Hedon Road to new buildings at the Hull Sanatorium site.
