Project Description
Major improvements are currently being undertaken to Hull City Centre under the instruction of Hull City Council. The project has involved excavating and removing all paving in all 8 work zones, of which some has then been carefully re-laid. The works then involved digging out an old and existing sub base and re constructing it, making new areas more hard standing and better equipped using Type1, tarmac and concrete. New Kellen paving is then to be installed on a bed of steintec material which again is designed to be more hard standing. This has been laid to a colour and set patter as issued by Hull City Council.
Further to this, part of the project works have involved the Hull Maritime building, a listed building which was improved by installing a completely new ramp and step access to the front of the building using Yorkshire stone as well as paving the top section and also making good all around the tie in to the bottom step.
The main challenges throughout this project have been maintaining good access for the affected shop owners and keeping businesses around the work area happy and informed at all times. It has also been vital to keep the main focus as giving safe access to shoppers and the general public.
