Project Description

Ashcourt were required to reconstruct a new roadway through Warter Priory Estate, spanning an impressive 1.2 miles from the entrance of the estate all the way through to the central property. Listening to the customer requirements we were asked to provide a quick solution as to not hold up the busy estate.

Working closely with multiple divisions within Ashcourt Group we firstly decided to focus on the planing. We used the cross-slope sensors on the planer to produce a flat level finish and to add the needed cambers for cornering and producing a box type cut. To help with cost savings we used a tractor trailer, planing out 1,400 tonnes in one day, this meant the estate could reuse these vehicles again with no delays added to their own programmes.

The next step involved working with Ashcourt concrete and transport to supply 2,544 tonnes of RCC concrete over four days to our team using the new Volvo concrete paver with a high compaction screed. This paver achieves up to 95% compaction of the RCC concrete, so no steel reinforcement or concrete shuttering is needed, which allows for less rolling time and helps with quick concrete placement and curing times.

This project is a great example of how different divisions within Ashcourt Group worked together to ensure deadline requirements and tight schedules were met with no issues. In total, 2,544 tonnes of concrete were used over an area of 8,152m2. Warter Priory Estate were able to return to their daily schedule two days after full project completion.
