Site Financial Controller

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Site Financial Controller to help oversee the financial operations of our multi operational site Ashcourt DTV. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance with relevant regulations and policies.

Location: Ashcourt Durham & Tees Valley (Ashcourt Quarry – Newton Aycliffe)

Reports to: Finance Director – Ashcourt DTV

Key Accountabilities:

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • •Support the Finance Director annual/interval budgeting process for the site, ensuring alignment with company-wide financial goals and objectives.
  • •Regularly update and maintain rolling forecasts, ensuring that the site’s financial performance stays on track.
  • •Monitor expenditure and ensure adherence to budgeted targets.

Cost Management

  • •Analyse and report site-specific costs, including direct and indirect expenses.
  • •Support operational teams in identifying cost-saving opportunities and improving financial efficiency.
  • •Implement and monitor cost control measures to maximize profitability.

Compliance & Controls

  • •Ensure compliance with company financial policies, procedures, and external regulations (e.g., tax laws, IFRS/GAAP).
  • •Manage and enforce internal controls to safeguard financial assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
  • •Oversee site audits, working closely with central finance and ensuring timely resolution of any audit findings.

Cash Flow & Working Capital

  • •All personnel including contractors shall be competent to perform tasks that may impact on H&S in the workplace.
  • •Competence shall be defined in terms of appropriate training, experience, ability and knowledge.
  • •Provide H&S coaching to supervisors & staff and across the project or site.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

  • •Act as the financial business partner to site leadership, providing financial insights and recommendations to aid decision-making.
  • •Working with Commercial teams to produce and report the Order book and pipeline.
  • •Collaborate with operational, admin, and HR teams to support business objectives.
  • •Provide training and support to non-financial managers on financial matters.

Skills & Qualifications

  • •Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (CPA, CIMA, or similar professional qualification is preferred).
  • •At least 3 years of experience in a financial management or controller role, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial site environment.
  • •Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control principles.
  • •Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems (e.g., SAGE 200, Weighsoft, Qlik, etc.).
  • •Advanced excel skills and ability to analyse large data sets, including pivot tables, lookups to a high proficiency and have in a presentational format.
  • •Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex financial information in an accessible manner.
  • •Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to financial management.
  • •Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • •Experience with financial management in a multi-site or large-scale operations.
  • •Familiarity with lean manufacturing or cost optimisation practices.
  • •Knowledge of local tax and legal compliance requirements for the region.
