Ashcourt Group is pleased to announce the arrival of a new Volvo EC360 excavator at Newthorpe Quarry, further strengthening the site’s operational capability following its recent acquisition by the Group.
The new machine has been introduced to support limestone extraction at the quarry and is already hard at work on site, helping to maximise mineral extraction and maintain a consistent production of quarried material. Its arrival represents another important step in Ashcourt Group’s continued investment into its sites, plant and equipment, supporting the company’s long-term commitment to supplying high-quality aggregates across West Yorkshire and the surrounding areas.
Newthorpe Quarry is an important addition to Ashcourt Group’s regional operations. Located near Sherburn in Elmet, the site provides a strong strategic base for supplying quarried limestone products across West Yorkshire. Since joining the Group, the quarry has become part of Ashcourt’s wider aggregates network, supporting both collection and delivery requirements for customers across the region.
The Volvo EC360 has been selected to meet the demands of a busy quarry environment, where reliability, productivity and durability are essential. Its role on site is focused on excavating limestone and supporting the efficient movement of mineral through the production process. By strengthening the extraction capability at Newthorpe Quarry, Ashcourt Group is helping to ensure that the site can continue to operate efficiently while supporting customer demand for consistent, high-quality material.
The machine is fitted with a heavy-duty rock bucket manufactured in full Hardox, providing the strength and wear resistance required for limestone excavation. The bucket is complete with a heavy-duty lip and heel shrouds, helping to protect key wear areas during demanding quarry operations. It has also been fitted with K-Prime heavy-duty easy-change teeth and adaptors, designed to support efficient maintenance and help reduce manual handling when teeth need to be changed.
This specification ensures the machine is well suited to the working conditions at Newthorpe Quarry, where robust equipment is essential to maintaining productivity and keeping material moving through the site. The investment reflects Ashcourt Group’s focus on selecting equipment that not only performs effectively but also supports safer and more efficient day-to-day operations for site teams.
Following the recent acquisition of Newthorpe Quarry, Ashcourt Group has continued to invest in the site to strengthen its operational performance and increase the availability of quarried limestone products. The introduction of the Volvo EC360 is part of this wider approach, ensuring that the quarry has the right equipment in place to support mineral extraction and maintain a reliable supply of material.
This investment forms part of Ashcourt Group’s ongoing commitment to developing its operations across West Yorkshire. By continuing to invest in modern plant, specialist equipment and regional quarry sites, the Group is increasing its ability to supply high-quality aggregates to customers across construction, infrastructure, groundworks, utilities, housebuilding and civil engineering sectors.
Newthorpe Quarry is fully operational and currently has a stock of quarried aggregates available for both collection and delivery. The site supports a range of customer requirements, from regular aggregate supply to larger project demands, with material available directly from the quarry.
As Ashcourt Group continues to grow its regional presence, investment in sites such as Newthorpe Quarry remains an important part of the company’s strategy. The arrival of the Volvo EC360 demonstrates the Group’s commitment to strengthening its operational capacity, supporting its teams on site and ensuring customers across West Yorkshire have access to a reliable supply of quality quarried aggregates.
