Ashcourt Group has continued its programme of investment in modern plant and equipment with the addition of a new Volvo EC500 crawler excavator to its quarrying fleet. The latest investment further strengthens the Group’s operational capability and reflects Ashcourt’s ongoing commitment to maintaining a modern, efficient and reliable fleet across its quarrying and aggregate operations.
Designed for demanding applications including quarrying, mining and heavy construction, the Volvo EC500 has an operating weight of between approximately 48 and 53 tonnes and has been developed to provide high levels of productivity, stability and efficiency in challenging working environments. The EC500 incorporates Volvo’s latest generation of electro-hydraulic technology, designed to provide greater control over hydraulic flow and engine speed while improving overall machine efficiency. According to Volvo Construction Equipment, the model can deliver fuel-efficiency improvements of up to 15%, helping to reduce fuel consumption while maintaining the performance required for heavy-duty applications.
This combination of power and efficiency makes the EC500 particularly well suited to Ashcourt Group’s quarrying operations, where machinery is required to perform consistently in demanding conditions while handling significant volumes of material. The machine also provides substantial digging and loading capability, with bucket capacities of up to 3.31m³, alongside high breakout and tear-out forces designed to support intensive excavation and material handling operations. Alongside productivity, the latest generation EC500 has been developed with operator safety, visibility and comfort as key considerations. Its modern cab environment and advanced machine control systems are designed to support operators during long and demanding working periods, while improved servicing access and machine monitoring help maximise availability and reduce downtime.
